Family Assessments

Our comprehensive Family Assessments provide valuable insights and support for families, social workers, and local authorities for parents and children experiencing challenging circumstances.

What is a Family Assessment?

A Family Assessment is a detailed evaluation over time of a family’s strengths and challenges to determine their support needs. It involves gathering information through interviews and observations to gain a holistic understanding of their unique dynamic.

Why are Family Assessments important?

As well as providing a vital role in identifying where families may need support, assessments also inform care plans and ensure the wellbeing of both children and their parents.

What's involved in a Family Assessment?

Depending on the initial circumstances and which provisions are requested (such as accommodation and supervision), assessments with Summer Bloom are typically carried out over 12 weeks. We use an objective framework to record relevant factual information and unbiased observations from experienced support workers.

In addition to monitoring, support workers will also offer tailored guidance to parents to help with improving their daily living and parenting skills as necessary to promote safety, wellbeing, and positive communication for both child and parent.

Family Assessments in collaboration with Social Workers

Working with social workers can help determine the level of ongoing support required during and after the assessment and identify a range of opportunities and risks for the family.

Together, we can develop effective care plans in collaboration with the family, as well as provide monitoring and evaluation of any additional health and community interventions.
